About Foundation For Southeast Texas
This community foundation, led by a board of 30 leaders from Hardin, Jefferson and Orange counties was established in late 1996 to respond to continuously changing and emerging community needs. It is different from other foundations in that it can address areas of concern including: arts and culture, preservation, education, health, social services, youth, the elderly, economic development, faith groups and civic affairs.
Our Community Foundation at a Glance
Since 1998, we have granted almost two million dollars to nonprofits
in Southeast Texas and to other national nonprofits who serve our community
through our designated, donor-advised and unrestricted funds. Our Annual
Report shows a complete listing of the grants made in the past year,
but here are just a few of the areas we have supported:
Human Services
United Way – 4 donor designated endowed funds each year
Some Other Place – donor advised funds and competitive grants
Friends Helping Friends – numerous competitive grants
Hardin County Christian Care Center – competitive grants
Education
Lamar Foundation – donor advised funds
All Saints School – donor advised funds
Arts and Culture
The Symphony of Southeast Texas – competitive grants and donor
advised
The Ice House Museum – competitive grants
Young Audience of Southeast Texas – competitive grants
Health
Alzheimer Association – competitive grants
The Foundation also provides another services for nonprofits. It owns
an attractive, newly refurbished building in downtown Beaumont. Office
suites are leased to nonprofit organizations at below market rates.
The lease includes wireless internet access and the use of three meeting
rooms with state of the art furnishings for conferences, meetings and
training.
